Determination of the Mass Percent of Sulfate in an Unknown Sulfate Salt
Procedure
Measure out the sulfate Salt that is unknown. Find the weight in grams.

Fill the graduated cylinder with BaCl2 (Liquid). Pour the unknown sulfate salt into a beaker. Slowly poor the BaCl2 when the reaction is complete (stop making gritty noise). Use a stirring rod.

After all of the solution has gone threw the filter, fill the same beaker with distilled water, and pour into filter to get all the barium sulfate out.
Put the barium sulfate (the material in the filter) in the heating oven. This will dry out all of the barium sulfate.
